On the first really cold night of the winter a baby mountain lion was sprayed by a skunk in the Ojai Meadows Preserve and staggered across the street to a safe hiding place in my neighbor's toyon bush.

A bat "overexposed" to show skeletal features better.

When she came out her door the next morning she was face-to-face with a juvenile Mountain Lion, took some photos , and then called California Fish and Game whose Marksman cam by and shot it with a tranquilizer tipped dart; the young Puma took off towards the sign across the street that read Meiners Oaks Elementary Mountain Lions!

"Kitty" stares through window at mice coming for bird seed.

Tree Squirrels abound in the Ojai Valley, but many of them get run over and killed trying to take short cuts across roads, instead of staying up on the high wires out of danger.
